Sophonie was born on March 2nd, 1983 and raised in Haiti. Right before she was born her parents, Pierre S. Joseph and Janine Miracle, gave their lives to Christ.  Along with her two big brothers, she grew up learning how priceless and valuable family is.

Moving to the United States at 16 years of age, was a major transition for Sophonie, but trusting God she eventually was able to adjust to the new lifestyle and culture. Even though she had a lot of questions that were unanswered she kept hoping and building her future. She completed high school at Homestead Senior High in Homestead, Florida. After high school, she could not go to college right away and so she stayed home every day hoping that it would turn around for her.

She was then introduced to a program called the REVEST program. This particular opportunity took place in Miami, Florida at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus. This was about two hours from where she was living. Although the program didn’t offer the career path that she wanted, she went ahead and signed up for the program anyway. She thought “as long as I am learning something! I will put my brain at work!” so she completed the Patient Care Technician program. Just at the end of wrapping up that program she was able to actually attend college. This waiting period for Sophonie to start college took about two whole entire years.

She is an Alumna of Miami Dade College as well as Florida International University. Sophonie has worked in the Education sector for more than ten years where she still mostly serves through advising in higher education. She is an educator at heart, a mentor, a mom and wife. Sophonie founded Zepha Praise (now Zepha Education), a ministry that encourages people to remain lifelong learners in order to teach, learn and serve. Sophonie is happily married to her husband Ronald Laurore. Together they reside in Brockton, Massachusetts with their daughter and son.
